BSc (Hons) Computing Part-time at UWE
What the Students Say
I am working at a computer software company. My employer
gave me one day leave to attend this part-time course.
They are also paying my fees!
I enjoyed the course very much.
I didn't find it difficult. This is perhaps
because I have done lots of programming at work, and
I had quite a good maths background.
- a third year student
I wouldn't say the course is easy.
Although we only come in one day a week, the day
is fully packed with lectures, tutorials and LAB sessions.
I normally have to spend every weekend to digest what we
learnt during the week. When there are assignments due, I
often work till late night every day.
By the way, my wife has been helping me to cut grass
in the last two years. This just shows how busy I am.
It is a hard life!
But I am pleased with my progress. My grade
is looking good so far, thanks to the hard work.
- a second year student
I did HND computer studies at another college.
After receiving my diploma, I decided to
carry on my further education and eventually obtain a BSc honours degree
in computing. I found that this course offers what exactly I wanted.
Because of my background, I was given the opportunity of direct entry.
I am now taking some level 2 and level 3 modules. I felt that
there are lots of things to catch up on. For example, I didn't know
the C language very well, but some modules heavily use C. My advice is
that you need to be very careful which level you should enter.
- a direct entry student
I have been on this course for about 5 years, and am going to finish
it in the next few months. The course is great although it has been a long
journey. Most of all, I have made some really good friends here.
