Knowledge Acquisition Coursework

A small knowledge acquisition exercise written up in report form.

Choose a narrow domain of genuine knowledge or expertise that you can elicit from a friend or colleague. Do an elicitation exercise to document the knowledge as formally as appropriate and write this up in report form.

The reports will be discussed in class towards the end of the module.

The report could include the following:

  1. A description of the domain;

  2. A description of the method(s) or technique(s) employed;

  3. A documentary of the process of elicitation;

  4. The results of the elicitation, including documentation;

  5. Analysis of the domain, which should identify

  6. A discussion of the appropriateness of the method used, including its strengths and weaknesses, and recommendations for any relevant alternative approaches; and

  7. A recommendation for IT development.
