Choose a narrow domain of genuine knowledge or expertise that you can elicit from a friend or colleague. Do an elicitation exercise to document the knowledge as formally as appropriate and write this up in report form.
The reports will be discussed in class towards the end of the module.
The report could include the following:
A description of the domain;
A description of the method(s) or technique(s) employed;
A documentary of the process of elicitation;
The results of the elicitation, including documentation;
Analysis of the domain, which should identify
degree of formality apparent from the elicitation,
fields that appear open to further investigation,
fields that will probably be resistant to further investigation,
an estimate of the stability of represented knowledge, give reasons for these conclusions.
A discussion of the appropriateness of the method used, including its strengths and weaknesses, and recommendations for any relevant alternative approaches; and
A recommendation for IT development.
