Overview

• To demonstrate how it's possible to create software for learners to model a problem and communicate a solution.
• Interface uses technique of 'Programming by Example'. This enables learners to design a product and make calcaulations through a visual interface.
• Example was produced through an automated conversion from a tree representation (visualised in example 1).
• The interface demonstrates calculation within a browser; the 'Periphery', 'Area', 'Raw Volume', 'Finished Volume', 'Part Width' and 'Part Height' are all calculated dynamically.

How has it benefited your students? - This is still a prototype. I'm looking to develop this via student projects.

How has it benefited you? - This example lets me demonstrate my PhD ideas.

Any other comments - e.g. what you might do differently if you were to do it again etc. - There are many AJAX/Web 2.0 software development tools and techniques, which have emerged since, and that I could use for a more adaptable interactive demo.
