

The Challenge
- Digital technologies are fundamental to our everyday lives - the "digital society".
- Cyber Crime is a major growth area - from "script kiddies" to organised crime groups - due to increased opportunities, motive and greater access to target victims online - average cost of cyber crime in 2020 reported as $945,000,000,000.
- Cyber Security aims to protect information assets of both citizens and businesses - "helping to make the UK the safest place to live and work online" (NCSC).
Key Objectives
- A multi-disciplinary approach to addressing both technical, societal, and economic challenges associated with cyber security and cyber crime.
- Building academic research to develop data-driven solutions for law enforcement and government agencies to assess threat and protect our nation.
- Providing a recognised University research cluster to attract faculty, researchers, students and industry to collaborate on cutting edge challenges and expand within cyber security and cyber crime.
