I am a member of the Community Information Systems Centre (CISC) and Convener of the Music & Audio Systems Research Group (MASRG). I supervise PhD students in the areas of music, media and community Information Systems. I have little time to carry out real research of my own, but I do get excited about methodologies, surveillance, civil liberties, social change, disability, empowerment, multimedia and music.

For 2008-08, The Faculty has awarded me a grant for project work on speech recognition of lectures - for the initial purpose of supporting hearing-impaired students, but with potentially great use to all students if plans work out - much great work being done on it by Phill Phelps. Watch this space!
