This is an experimental system which uses a Web-based application to receive and display messages sent from a mobile phone.
To use the system:
1. Switch on your mobile phone.
2 Store the number for the IS school’s SMS server - 0762 480 3759 in your mobile phone You can also use it to get access information services – for example there is a service which will tell you the times of the next Bus service to depart from Frenchay.
3. To put a message on the board, text
SAY followed by a space and then the message you want to send.
4. Send it to the SMS server number – the message should appear on the board after a small delay for transmission and processing. The actual delay will depend on the priority given to SMS messages by your carrier, and system load, but it should be around 5 seconds.
5. Messages are identified on the board by the last 4 digits of your mobile number. It would be helpful to identify the messages by name, and you can do this by texting
ME followed by your name.
You only need to do this once.
