Centre for Water Systems
School of Engineering and Computer Science
Exeter University - North Park Road, Exeter, EX4 4QF, UK

The Centre for Water Systems at the University of Exeter was set up to develop innovative solutions for hydroinformatics problems. The Centre has developed novel genetic algorithm and other evolutionary/adaptive computing software tools which have been applied to a variety of engineering design problems in collaboration with water industry consultants and water companies worldwide.

Services offered

In 1996 the Centre established Optimal Solutions, a specialist consultancy service to the water industry, using the latest technologies to plan, design and operate water systems to the greatest possible advantage. Optimal Solutions combines the water industry experience of Ewan Associates with the world class research of the Centre to offer unique and easy access to the most powerful tools available for efficient design and management of complex systems. Its software tool GAnet has been used successfully on several large projects, some of which have demonstrated savings of many millions of pounds against manual solutions.

Experience

Dr Dragan Savic, Director of the Centre for Water Systems, has 17 years consultancy experience. Clients include Consumers Utilities, Canada; Roy F Weston, Inc, USA, and the following UK companies: South West Water Plc, North West Water Plc, Yorkshire Water Plc and Ewan Associates.
