YOU


•    Face the audience

•    Speak clearly

•    Vary your speech, avoid monotony

•    Eye contact

•    Body position

•    Don’t rush (or go too slowly)

 
YOUR SLIDES

•    Readable – use a large font

•    Put little text on a slide

•    Use pictures  / graphs

•    Make use of colour if you can

•    Don’t just photocopy pages of your report

•    Remember to point to the screen or slide, if appropriate

•    Use the spell-checker

•    You don’t have to use Powerpoint

 
NOTES

•    Don’t read from a set of notes

•    Use notes as prompts, or better still …..

•    Use your slides as prompts

 
STRUCTURE

•    Have a beginning, middle and end!

•    Start with an overview

•    Beginning = introduction

•    End = conclusions

•    Don’t make assumptions about your audience

 
BEFOREHAND

•    Number your slides

•    Practice, practice, practice, ….
