A quiet Biscay crossing- flat seas; light winds, good current; lots of motor sailing and concern that we had enough fuel

with the wind going round to the north, its getting bouncy here, so time to set off for Ile de Yeu; a very pleasant if slow sail in fine weather; a tricky, tight harbour with enormous ferries moving around

touring the Ile de Nourmoutier by the free/cheap buses;this is the low-tide crossing to 'the Continent';

light SWly, not like forecast at all, so we head out mid-morning to finish yesterday's trip to this port on the north end of Ile de Noirmoutier; crossing the Loire, we leave the slate roofs of Brittany; its red-tile roofs here;a proper harbour i.e. with fishing boats and a Comptoir de Marine

set off early this morning for the run to the Ile de Noirmontier in rain and a south-westerly. In the mouth of the Loire we have head-winds of 25-30, tide against and tacking will take us hours; this modern marina of the result of La Boule beckoned weary sailors;
