Faculty Data in RDF

Background

Data in staff, modules, programmes etc within the old Faculty of Computing, Engineering and Mathematical Sciences in 2007/8 has been extracted from our online system (FOLD) , formated as RDF and uploaded to a Talis Datastore. XQuery is used to provide an interface to this data.

Module reviewers

Each module is assigned a staff member as an internal moderator or peer reviewer. It is interesting to see how the network of relationships created by the X reviews Y's module is structured.

• XQuery code. This code uses a SPARQL query to extract the relationship data. The variables are called from, to and label to match the expectations of the stylesheet.
• General stylesheet to transform to dot format
• Generate the dot file as a text file.
• Transformation to a graph is done by Graphviz through a PHP interface View the Graph (large)
• One way to print such large images is to (sounds funny I know) copy to Excel and print over multiple pages.
