This centre has established itself as a leading research group of national significance.
Since its inception in 1994, the Centre has been involved in a large number of substantive research projects.
These vary from EPSRC funded projects to research funded directly by aerospace companies, many from the local region as well as from further afield including mainland Europe and the United States.
The aim of the group is to provide a national centre of expertise for aerospace manufacturing research. The focus of the research is on providing pragmatic solutions that meet the needs of industry.

The aim of the group is to provide a national centre of expertise for aerospace manufacturing research. The focus of the research is on providing pragmatic and applied solutions that meet the needs of industry.

The Objectives of our research is to provide pragmatic and applied solutions that meet the needs of both industry and the environment.

Principal interests

Primary aerospace processes such as Ultra-High Speed Machining (UHSM), grinding, superplastic forming and diffusion bonding, laser drilling and powder metallurgy.

A company LisTechnology has been formed to commercialise a technology called Superplastic Laser Induced Component Equipment (SPLICE).
This was pioneered AMRC, in collaboration with the University of Central Florida, enabling the lightest, strongest, most corrosion resistant and fatigue enduring, complex structures ever to be produced.

IT tools to support the aerospace design process. These include cost modelling tools, project management tools, materials analysis tools.
