        <EventTitle>Defence Industrial Strategy</EventTitle>
<EventSummary>The Defence Industrial Strategy was launched in December 2005, and the ramifications of this are being felt throughout the UK defence industry. This event will feature an invited speaker who will provide a detailed overview of the strategy and discuss any finer points that are raised.</EventSummary>

<EventTitle>What is a systems engineer, and how do we make them?</EventTitle>
<EventSummary>Are systems engineers born or can it be taught, and what is a systems engineer anyway? This interactive workshop based event will give you the chance to air your views and join the nature vs. nurture debate as we seek to establish the requirements for a systems engineer, how these requirements could be met, and how to verify that systems engineering is being done.</EventSummary>

<EventTitle>A year (and a bit) in the life of MODAF</EventTitle>
<EventSummary>MODAF has been with us officially since September 2005. This event will provide a mixture of retrospective case study material, and attempt to define the place of MODAF within the architectural frameworks community.</EventSummary>

        <EventTitle>Requirements Elicitation Techniques</EventTitle>
<EventSummary>In a slight departure from our normal events, this event will be split into two linked elements. In the afternoon there will be a tutorial on various popular requirements elicitation techniques (e.g. problem frames, SSM, and use cases). In the evening there will be an opportunity to try these out on a range of problems, with the performance of each technique being assessed for suitability at the end of the event.</EventSummary>

        <EventTitle>Systemic issues in major projects</EventTitle>
<EventSummary>Every big project tends to suffer from systemic issues that systems engineering would seem well suited to address and learn from. This event will feature an invited speaker who will bring out some of the issues that have emerged from the National Audit Office reports into major projects.</EventSummary>

        <EventTitle>Simulation and operational analysis</EventTitle>
<EventSummary>Whether it is a full blown flight simulator, a wooden mockup, or a humble spreadsheet crunching representative numbers, some form of simulation or operational analysis should be an important tool in the systems engineer's toolbox (and it's often more fun than requirements). This event will feature invited speakers explaining how they have used various simulation and visualisation techniques to feed back insights into the systems engineering process.</EventSummary>
